MAKERS & ARTISTS OPPORTUNITIES:

  1. Open call / Creative Challenge: YELLOW
We’re excited to invite artists and makers to take part in our first-ever Creative Challenge, leading to an exhibition this March! The idea behind this challenge is to work on a brief that is not a commission, not a custom order, but a shared theme to spark creativity and artistic exploration. We kept it simple this time:  Yellow — a colour full of warmth, energy, and symbolism, perfect for spring. Artists can interpret Yellow however they like. Take it literally, working with the colour itself, or explore it conceptually. Whether it is a reflection on nature’s golden hues, the glow of sunrise, or the boldness of modern design, we encourage artists and makers to push their creativity.
We welcome submissions in all mediums. If you already have a piece that fits, send us a photo and a short description (size, medium, price, few words about yourself..). If you'd like to create something new, share your concept with us — we’d love to hear it!
Key Dates:
  • Exhibition: PV 7th March, exhibition opens 8 - 30 March 2025
  • Submission Deadline: Sunday 2 March (we will inform you about the results 2-3 March)
  • Work Delivery: 3 - 6 March
If you’re interested, send an email to nook@nook-gallery.co.uk with your submission or idea, using "YELLOW" in the subject line.
We offer two participation options:
  • 40% commission on sales
  • £10 fee for up to 3 pieces and a reduced 20% commission, hopefully allowing more flexibility to experiment and take creative risks.
This challenge is an invitation to break routine, try something different, and connect through creativity. We’d love to have you involved—let’s see where Yellow takes us!
Looking forward to your submissions. Let us know if you have any questions!

2. Makers’ Social – Let’s Finally Have That Catch-Up! :)
We wanted to do a Christmas get-together… but we ran out of steam before the holidays! So let’s make it happen now.
Date: Saturday 1st March 6-9PM (bring drink/snacks to share)
This isn’t just about socialising (though that’s definitely part of it!). It’s a chance to connect outside of the usual fair settings, talk about creative challenges, and explore how we can better support each other. I’ve always wanted •nook• to be a space where makers can find peer-to-peer support, professional development, and a place to share ideas, opportunities, and frustrations—because let’s face it, running a creative business isn’t always easy.
I’d love to know if others are interested in building this kind of network. Let’s meet up, chat, and see where it takes us. Who’s in?

3. Gallery Hire – Space for Your Next Exhibition or Event
Book our temporary gallery space for your solo or group show, or a pop-up event. We want to provide artists and makers with the opportunity to explore new directions, showcase their work in a gallery setting, and develop new projects or bodies of work.
Our rates are very affordable, starting at less than £50 per week. We already have bookings for spring and autumn but we are open to new proposals. If you’re interested, get in touch—we’d be happy to discuss it in person!

4. Introducing: Working Tuesdays  – A Co-Working Space for Artists & Makers
We’re trialing something new! From March 4th, •nook• will become a co-working space for artists and makers every Tuesday (11-5pm)
Bring your laptop, sketchbook, or small creative projects and work alongside like-minded people in a relaxed, inspiring setting. Whether you need to tackle admin, update your website, send emails, or make progress on a creative idea, our space is here for you.
But this isn’t a one-size-fits-all setup—we want it to work for us. This is a work in progress, and we’ll be shaping these sessions together based on what we all need. Accountability check-ins? Creative feedback? A space to collaborate? Let’s figure it out as we go.
It's driven by our own needs, as we are fed up with my procrastination and unproductive days—so let’s do something about it! Tables will be set up, tea and coffee will be on hand—just bring yourself and your to-do list. Book your space (via email nook@nook-gallery.co.uk) and join us for the first session!
